1937–1971

Born on Kibbutz Gevat to Polish-born parents, Avraham Raz studied modern Hebrew literature at the Hebrew University, turning in his own writing from the short story to drama. Raz explored the relativity of truth, language, and storytelling in his play Mr. Israel Shefi’s Night of Independence. This play, his best known, was first performed in 1972, after Raz’s death.
