Image

On this illustrated page from a prayer book, written in an Ashkenazic hand, the scribe Simeon ben Naphtali has added, to the prayers said at a wedding, an image of the prophet Elijah (on the left), with a shofar, leading the crowned messiah, who is riding on a donkey, and an unidentified man (on the right) to the gates of Jerusalem. Yet another man, with a staff and holding an object, stands on the road at the bottom right of the page.
