Issachar Baer Teller

d. 1687

The physician and surgeon Issachar Baer Teller received his medical training by studying and practicing with other physicians in Prague. He completed his studies under the guidance of Joseph Solomon Delmedigo of Candia, who spent the last ten years of his life in Prague. A highly esteemed member of the Prague community, his tombstone still stands in the local cemetery. Composed in Yiddish, Be’er mayim ḥayim (Wellspring of Living Waters) contains simple and clear instructions for self-treatment and for preparing medications at home.
