George Braun

1542–1622

Georg Braun (also known as Brunus) was a German topographer. Born in Cologne, Germany, he was a Catholic cleric and the principal editor of a book of town plans and views, the six-volume Civitates Orbis Terrarum, published between 1572 and 1617, which set new standards for cartography.
