[King Shapur’s mother] sent a message to Rabbah: Concentrate your mind and pray for divine mercy, for there is no rainfall. He prayed:
Master of the Universe!
O God, we have heard with our ears, our fathers have told us; a work You did perform in their days, in days of old (Psalm 44:2)—but we have not beheld such with our own eyes!
