My White Snow Princess

Celia Dropkin

1917

Oh white spirit—
My princess!
The spring rips,
Tears at your dress.
The air is full of spring’s fame
Crowned with florets
Carrying its perfume
Spring’s fresh scents.
Bringing your death,
My white snow princess!
Shadows carpet your path.
You melt. The world forgets.
My heart’s broken with deep pain
For you, my spirit of loneliness.
