Yehuda Nini

1930–2020

Historian Yehuda Nini was born in Palestine in 1930 into a family who had immigrated from Yemen. He received his doctorate from Tel Aviv University in 1977; his dissertation was on the Jewish community in nineteenth-century Yemen. He also cataloged the records of Sana’a, Yemen. In 1994, Nini became head of the Chaim Rosenberg School of Jewish Studies at Tel Aviv University. In 1983 he received the Yitzhak Ben Zvi Prize for his research on the Jews of Yemen.
