Philip Roth

1933–2018
A celebrated twentieth-century American writer, born in Newark, New Jersey, Philip Roth was the author of more than two dozen novels known for their memorable characters, semi-autobiographical elements, and biting satire directed at post-World War II America. His works were widely honored, receiving among other awards two National Book Awards, three PEN/Faulkner Awards, and a Pulitzer Prize.
