Netiva Ben-Yehuda

1928–2011

Author and broadcaster Netiva Ben-Yehuda was born in Tel Aviv. She studied at the Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem, at the University of London, and at the Hebrew University. She was a noted member of the Palmach. Ben-Yehuda was an editor of the Encyclopedia Hebraica and served as a spokeswoman in the Ministry of Labor. In 1996, she began a weekly broadcast on a popular late-night program of talk and music. Ben-Yehuda championed the importance of spoken Hebrew.
