Herbert Gold

b. 1924

Novelist Herbert Gold grew up in the Cleveland, Ohio, area and moved to New York to study at Columbia University. Gold was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship, and he moved to Paris, attending the Sorbonne. He later came to San Francisco, where he associated with the Beat generation, notably poets Allen Ginsberg and Lawrence Ferlinghetti. Gold is the author of more than twenty novels.
