Herb Gardner

1934–2003

Herb Gardner was born in Brooklyn, New York. He was a playwright, screenwriter, novelist, and cartoonist. Many of his comedies, with their eccentric characters, have been adapted into feature films. Gardner received the Tony Award for Best Play, the Writers Guild of America Lifetime Achievement Award, and nominations for Academy and Emmy Awards.
