Ḥaim Zeev Hirschberg

1903–1976

Israeli historian Ḥaim Zeev Hirschberg was born in Tarnopol, Galicia, and arrived in Palestine in 1943. A historian specializing in Jews of the Muslim world, Hirschberg in 1960 became a professor of Jewish history at Bar-Ilan University, subsequently writing a two-volume study of the topic.
