Gideon Hausner
1915–1990
Israeli lawyer and prosecutor Gideon Hausner was born in Lemberg (today Lviv), and moved in 1927 to Palestine, where he joined the Haganah and fought in Israel’s War of Independence. He later served as a military prosecutor and president of the military court and was the country’s attorney general from 1960 to 1963. Hausner was the chief prosecutor in the trial of Adolf Eichmann. In 1965, Hausner was elected to the Knesset as a member of the Independent Liberal Party. He returned to private law practice in 1977.
