Osher Margolis

1891–1976

Osher Margolis (also Margulis), born in Rivne, Ukraine, was a Soviet historian who applied Marxist-Leninist theories to Jewish issues in the Russian Empire. Margolis taught at the Jewish Pedagogical Institute in Kiev and served as head of the historical section of Kiev’s Institute of Jewish Proletarian Culture. During World War II he was active in the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee.
