N. M. Nikolskii

1877–1957

Nikolai Mikhailovich Nikolskii was born in Moscow and graduated from Moscow University. In the 1920s, he lectured in Jewish studies at the Belorussian State University. As a historian of religion, his approach was anthropological, and he explored polytheistic elements within Judaism, pre-Christian Slavic mythology, Belorussian wedding rites, and ancient Babylonian history.
