Abraham J. Zhitnik

1890–1964

Abraham J. (Avrom-Yankev) Zhitnik grew up in a Hasidic family near Zhitomir, Ukraine. A rabbi, orator, and Zionist, he wrote and edited in Kiev, supporting Jewish laborers. After the Russian Revolution, Zhitnik settled in the United States, where he served as a rabbi (known as Z. Abrams) in Chicago.
