Oskar Yeshayahu Wolfsberg
1893–1957
Oscar Yeshayahu Wolfsberg (Volfsberg; also Aviad) was a leader of religious Zionism, a writer who explored the history of philosophy, and a physician. He was born in Hamburg, served in World War I, and moved to Palestine in 1933. Active in the Mizrahi movement in both his native Germany (where he served as the organization’s president and edited its journal) and in Israel (where he joined Ha-Po‘el ha-Mizrahi), Wolfsberg represented the state of Israel as a diplomat in Scandinavia and Switzerland.
