Creator Bio

Ruth Almog

b. 1936

Israeli writer, critic, and editor Ruth Almog was born in Petaḥ Tikva, the daughter of German immigrants. Her first short story was published in the 1960s in the literature supplement of Haaretz; as an editor of that column, she has been an influential critic. Almog has written dozens of books for adults and children. She was awarded the Brenner Prize (1989), the Agnon Prize (2001), the German Gerty Spies Prize for Literature (2004), and the Bialik Prize for Lifetime Achievement (2006).
