To Know If an Evil Spirit Has Possessed a Person

Unknown

16th Century

To know if an evil spirit has possessed a person, utter three times in his right ear:

TsIP"A TsIP"A TRAYY"T GWTAN"T, that is to say: Of the Rock that begat you, you are unmindful, etc. (Deuteronomy 32:18). I adjure you, evil spirit that controls this body of So-and-So, that she [the evil spirit] should reveal herself to me using this possessed tongue, and speak to me “mouth to mouth” of the true method, and reply truthfully to anything that I ask you.

All this should be recited three times in his right ear, three times in his left ear, and three times over his head. And adjure him in the names of the Blessed Creator Amen, and in the Holy Names, and in the great Day of Judgment when he will reveal himself and speak to you “mouth to mouth” with the power to exorcise as much as your soul desires. And if he is not willing, utter three times in his right ear:

Let them be as chaff before the wind, and let the angel of God chase them (Psalms 35:5). Miyadel: their path should be dark and slippery, and an angel of God pursue them. Mirael: set you a wicked man over him; and the accuser [Satan] who stands on my right (Psalms 109:6). You will break them with an iron rod (Psalms 2:9) as your soul desires.

And after this say: “Evil spirit controlling this body, now go down the left leg and stand in the middle of the toe without doing any harm to the victim, and stand there until that day when I give you permission to leave, and there I tie you, spirit X that controls the body of So-and-So, and there you shall stand in the name of Yud.” And meditate on the tip of Yud, to the name of Keter [crown] and with the Yud itself to the sefirah of Ḥokhmah [wisdom], etc., as you know. And adjure him as much as your soul wants and desires. If God avenges, recite Psalm 109 three times.
