One of the most celebrated American abstract painters of her generation, Louise Fishman became widely known for her paintings in the 1970s, when, inspired by the feminist movement, she began producing work reflecting traditional women’s crafts, such as knitting and stitching. Fishman is the recipient of several prizes and awards, including a Guggenheim grant and several National Endowment for the Arts grants.
