Avi Weiss
b. 1944
Avi Weiss, born in New York, is a modern Orthodox rabbi and head of the Hebrew Institute of Riverdale, New York. An activist who advocated for Soviet Jewry and has demonstrated against terrorism and antisemitism, Weiss is the author of several books and is also the founder and president of the rabbinical school Yeshivat Chovevei Torah.
