Shlomo Carlebach

1926–1994

Born in Berlin, Shlomo Carlebach immigrated to the United States in 1939. Carlebach was an Orthodox rabbi, performer, and a widely regarded composer of Jewish spiritual music. Known as Reb Shlomo, Carlebach combined Orthodox traditions and Hasidic mysticism. He made numerous recordings and is famous for his tales.
