Aviezer Ravitzky

b. 1945

Born and raised in Jerusalem, Aviezer Ravitzky is a scholar of medieval and twentieth-century Jewish thought. He was a senior fellow at the Israel Democracy Institute, where he directed the Religion and State Project. He is also a leading figure in Israel’s religious left wing and a founder of the peace movements Oz VeShalom and Netivot Shalom. In 2001 Ravitzky was awarded the Israel Prize.
