Jonathan Boyarin, born in Neptune, New Jersey, is a translator, author, and professor of modern Jewish thought at the University of North Carolina. Combining cultural studies with elements of anthropology and ethnography, his work addresses Yiddish literature and culture, the Diaspora, memory, and Zionism.
