Michael Lerner

b. 1943

Born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, Michael Lerner attended Columbia University and received a Ph.D. in philosophy from University of California, Berkeley, in 1972. A rabbi, left-wing activist, and the leader of the Beyt Tikkun Synagogue in Berkeley, he is widely known as the founder and editor in chief of Tikkun, a progressive Jewish magazine.
