Menachem Brinker

1935–2016

Philosopher, literary scholar, peace activist, and editor Menachem Brinker was born and raised in Jerusalem. He held a doctorate in philosophy from Tel Aviv University and taught at the Hebrew University and the University of Chicago. Brinker founded the modern Hebrew studies program at the University of Chicago, and was its first chair. In 2004, he received the Israel Prize.
