Yosef Hayim Yerushalmi

1932–2009

Born and raised in New York, Yosef Hayim Yerushalmi taught at Harvard University and then became professor of Jewish history, culture, and society at Columbia University. Specializing in medieval and modern Jewish history, Yerushalmi wrote numerous award-winning studies.
