Gail Carson Levine

b. 1947

Born in New York City, children’s writer Gail Carson Levine began her career as a welfare administrator. Her picture books and novels for young adults incorporate themes from myths and fairy tales, or, as with Dave at Night, describe experiences of her family. Ella Enchanted received the Newbery Honor Book award and became a feature film by Miramax.
