Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Max Apple is a novelist, short story writer, and critic who teaches creative writing at the University of Pennsylvania. His commentaries on American life reveal absurdities in the general culture and explore the nature of multigenerational Jewish families. Five of Apple’s books have been named New York Times Notable Books.
