Steve Stern

b. 1947

Steve Stern, born in Memphis, has published novels, collections of short stories, and children’s literature. Much of his writing explores Jewish life in the American South, using Yiddish folklore and colorful characters. Stern, who is a professor of English at Skidmore College, is the recipient of Guggenheim and Fulbright fellowships, the National Jewish Book Award, two Pushcart Prizes, and an O. Henry Prize.
