Ronit Matalon

1959–2018

Ronit Matalon was born and raised in Ganei Tikva, Israel. Her short stories were first published in the early 1980s, and her first novel, Sipur shematḥil bilvayah shel naḥash (A Story That Starts with a Snake’s Funeral) was published in 1989 and later filmed. She taught at Haifa University’s department of literature and worked as a political reporter for Haaretz.
