György Dalos

b. 1943

Born in Budapest, György Dalos is a Hungarian writer who has published several novels, a volume of poetry, and essays. When he was convicted in 1968 for “subversive activities,” a publication ban was imposed against him. He has lived in Berlin since 1995, where he directed the Hungarian Cultural Institute from 1995 to 1999. In 2010, he received the Leipzig Book Award for European Understanding.
