Second Half of the 16th Century

Samuel de Valerio, a physician, lived in various places in the Greek archipelago. His commentary on the book of Esther, Yad ha-melekh (Hand of the King), was completed in Corfu in 1579, and one year later, he finished his commentary on the book of Daniel, ḥazon la-mo’ed (Vision for an Appointed Time), in Chalandrisa, a village not far from Patras. Both works were printed in Venice. According to his own testimony, Samuel also wrote commentaries on Lamentations and Ecclesiastes.
