Joshua Falk was born in Kraków, where he studied with his cousin Moses Isserles. Later he studied with Solomon Luria in Lublin. Falk served as a rabbi in Ludmir and head of its yeshiva for twenty-five years. He was involved with the Council of the Four Lands and chaired the Lublin Council of 1607.
