Salamone Candia

d. 1630

Not much is known about Salamone (Solomon) Candia’s life. He seems to have been from Verona, and while staying in Ferrara, he wrote a love letter to his bride. His works survive in one manuscript, MS Roth 701, University of Leeds, and include letters in both Hebrew and Judeo-Italian, poems, aphorisms, and a Judeo-Italian poem commemorating the Sabbath.
