Simja de Torres

1677–1746

Not much is known about Simja (Simha) de Torres, daughter of Moses de Silva, who lived in Jamaica. She was married to Joseph Torres and, after his death in 1724, ran the family business, which included the sale of African and African Caribbean slaves. She later moved to New York, where she was a member of Congregation Shearith Israel.
