d. 1732

Judith Baruh Alvares was from a Jewish family in Jamaica that likely had roots in Amsterdam; she was the wife of Jacob Baruh Alvares. Judith died on October 24, 1732, and was buried in the Hunt’s Bay Cemetery in Port Royal, Jamaica. In her will (preserved in the Public Record Office in Great Britain), she left thirty pounds to an orphan, one Daniel Suazo. In addition, she bequeathed one hundred pounds to be used to construct a proper walkway in the cemetery.
