Abraham Ardutiel

1482–after 1571

Born in Spain, Abraham ben Solomon Ardutiel moved with his family to Fez after the 1492 expulsion of the Jews. Ardutiel’s Additions to Sefer ha-kabalah (The Book of Tradition) is a short composition that serves as an appendix to the eleventh-century Abraham ibn Daud’s Sefer ha-kabalah (The Book of Tradition). It contains important information regarding the history of the Jews in Málaga in the years prior to the expulsion and some of the events up to the year 1510. Ardutiel was also the author of the kabbalistic composition Avne zikharon (Memorial Stones), as well as a few responsa.
