Judah Papo

d. 1873

Judah Papo was the son of Eliezer Papo, author of the 1826 Hebrew-language ethical (musar) tract Pele yo‘ets, which Judah translated into Ladino in 1870, amending the work to reflect changes in Ottoman Jewish society. Judah Papo’s encouragement of technological changes as a method of spreading Jewish knowledge is reflected in his words on the flourishing Ladino press.
