Isaac Asher Francolm

1788–1849

Isaac Asher Francolm was a preacher and religious teacher in East Prussia. Born in Breslau, he taught from 1820 to 1826 in Königsberg, during which time he modernized synagogue rituals and introduced the confirmation of girls. In 1826, he returned to Breslau and became headmaster of the local Jewish school, serving until 1847. He wrote on a variety of topics, including religion and history, but also fiction, mathematics, and pedagogy, some under the name Eugen Rispart.
