Zeraḥ Eidlitz
ca. 1720–1786
A rabbi, preacher, and member of the bet din in Prague, Zeraḥ Eidlitz was a student of the controversial rabbi Jonathan Eybeschütz. Although Eidlitz wrote a Hebrew- and Yiddish-language work on mathematics and did not disparage secular education, he considered it inferior to Torah-centered learning. Eidlitz was accused of Sabbatianism by Jacob Emden. A collection of fourteen of Eidlitz’s sermons was printed as Or la-yesharim.
