Angelo (Mordechai) de Soria

18th Century

Angelo de Soria lived in Leghorn (Livorno), Italy, and was active in the mid-eighteenth century. After graduating from the University of Pisa’s medical school in 1754, he played a key role in the decree issued by the university in 1755—which would last eleven years—making non-Catholic tuition the same as Catholic tuition for that university. His writing was inspired by the Bible, Midrash, and Mishnah, as well as Sephardic philosophers.
