Yaacov Agam

Yaacov Agam is a Paris-based artist, renowned for his interactive, kinetic artworks. Born Yaacov Gipstein in Rishon le-Tsion, Agam studied at the Bezalel School of Arts and Crafts in Jerusalem and subsequently trained in Zurich and Paris. In the mid-1950s, Agam began exhibiting his work, which combined sculpture and painting to create vibrant, abstract, geometric compositions that incorporate movement and encourage viewer participation. In his installations, the perception of each piece changes as the viewer moves around it. Agam has created a number of public artworks in Israel as well as the United States and has exhibited his work across the globe.
