René Sussan

1925–2020

Born in Algiers, the French novelist and short-story writer René Sussan is best known for his work in genre fiction, especially detective novels, science fiction, and fantasy. He published under his own name and even more widely using the pen names René Reouven and Albert Davidson. During the 1980s, his literary efforts were focused on the eight-volume Cycle de Sherlock Holmes. His works were awarded the Prix Cazes (1965) and the Grand prix de littérature policière (1971 and 1983), and many of his works have been translated into German.
