Zygmunt Bauman

1925–2017

Born in Poznan, Poland, sociologist Zygmunt Bauman left Poland in 1971 after renewed antisemitic campaigns. Bauman was professor emeritus of sociology at the University of Leeds. His scholarship illuminates the Holocaust, modern life, politics, and contemporary society.
