Tosefta Bava Kamma
16. He who frightens his fellow to death is exempt under human law but liable under heavenly law.
If he shouted in his ear and deafened him, he is exempt.
If he seized him by the ear [or: seized him and shouted in his ear] and deafened him, he is liable.
He who frightens the ox of his fellow to death is exempt under human law but liable under heavenly law.
17. He who force-feeds [the ox of another] with asafoetida, creeper-berries, a poisonous ointment, or chicken feces is exempt under human law but liable under heavenly law.
An agent of the court who administered a flogging on the court’s order and did injury is exempt under human law but liable under heavenly law.
He who performs work with purification water or with his neighbor’s purification-offering cow [rendering it invalid] is exempt under human law but liable under heavenly law.
An experienced physician who administered a remedy on the court’s order and did damage is exempt under human law but liable under heavenly law.
He who cuts up the fetus in the womb of a woman on the court’s order and did damage is exempt under human law but liable under heavenly law.
