Elkhonen Zeitlin

1902–1942

Elkhonen Zeitlin was born in Rogachev (Russian Empire, today Belarus), the son of Hillel Zeitlin and younger brother of Aaron Zeitlin. Zeitlin settled in Warsaw in 1921 and was active in cultural, theatrical, and literary Jewish organizations. He was the coeditor of Undzer ekspres (Our Express), and contributed to Yiddish periodicals. His memoirs are an important testament to Jewish intellectual life in Warsaw. Like his father, Elkhonen died in the Warsaw ghetto.
