To mark, for the generation being educated, a path toward the eternal truths and lofty ambitions of the enlightened world in general and the Jewish world in particular; to activate and encourage the spiritual power of the youth who is growing up; to evoke and develop positive emotions of the heart; to educate through science and to refine one’s taste through select literature: toward all of this we aspire via the Moledet (Motherland) monthly.
In the name of the Motherland—the Hebrew family and its life; the Hebrew nation and its assets, the holy motherland and its settlements—we will raise their banner for our children, to strengthen their hearts regarding the power of their people and its hope.
This monthly is for our children who are approaching adulthood: for their need for education and accomplishment. And since all fine and good literature, and all explanatory scientific articles, aimed at older children are, in their own right, suitable reading for the broader public—the nation—we hope that our monthly will be worthy of the Jewish home in general, fathers and sons alike.
We hope that lovers of our literature will see fit to make efforts, along with us, to distribute our monthly; to make it available to Jewish homes. By doing this, they will assist in the enhancement of this literary institution, which we have established here in our motherland.
The members of the committee for publishing the monthly Moledet,
