Yehuda Bauer

b. 1926

Yehuda Bauer was born in Prague. After his family left Czechoslovakia in 1939, Bauer attended high school in Haifa. He later studied in Cardiff, and earned his doctorate at the Hebrew University. A historian, Bauer is a leading theorist about the Holocaust, antisemitism, and interfaith relations. He serves as professor of Holocaust studies at the Avraham Harman Institute of Contemporary Jewry at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Bauer received the Israel Prize and is a member of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
