Wendy Wasserstein
1950–2006
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Wendy Wasserstein was a playwright, novelist, and writer of essays and television and filmscripts. Known for her feminist themes, she was the first woman to receive the Tony Award for Best Play. Her other awards included the Pulitzer Prize, a Guggenheim Foundation fellowship, additional Tony Awards and nominations, and the Outer Critics Circle Award.
